Hello everyone and welcome to the Heart To Arts (HTA)!
HTA is a newsletter in three parts: DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion), self-care and the promotion of different black owned businesses.
Antiracist work can be super daunting. I get it. The fear of making a mistake can stop people from ever making a move towards creating safer, more inclusive environments and that, to put it lightly, is not good.
HTA isn’t necessarily about providing answers, but rather providing you with questions that will push your idea of what a truly inclusive community can look like. Questions like:
What does antiracism look like in practice?
How do I even know what to look for?
How can self-love be radical?
What does loving myself look like?
How can I grow as an ally?
How do I unlearn prejudice?
What does this look like on film?
In the rehearsal room?
In the classroom?
In upper management?
In my living room re-watching Sharknado 2 with my imaginary in-laws?
All of that AND regularly introducing our readership to different black owned businesses and sharing discounts, giveaways and other surprises that you can only get through subscribing to the weekly newsletter (so you might want to do that).
HTA will be officially launching very soon so stay tuned!
HTA is founded by Shayna, an NYC based actor, model, freelance writer, diversity consultant and professional pattern disruptor who likes terrible Syfy movies, semi-sweet red wines and playing with babies she can give back to their parents.
I love you. This is everything that the world needs right now. You are such a light, and we are so lucky to have you. You're incredible Shayna <3
