Meet Shanine Alessia Young
How do you define what you do? AKA Can you explain what being a book coach is?
I basically help entrepreneurs turn their story and expertise into a published book. As an author coach, I help my clients not to just write and publish their book but also how to market their book.
My goal as an author coach is to show you how to make the most impact and income from your book. I don’t just leave authors stuck at the publishing process but I show them what’s next and what else can come about from their book.
How did you get into this career? When did you start? Was there someone/something that inspired you?
I am a Certified English teacher. I taught for eight years and left the classroom a year ago. So now I pretty much refer to myself as a retired teacher turned Authorpreneur.
I published my first book on Mother’s Day three years ago and I honestly believe my daughter inspired me. She grew up with a lot of different food allergies which made it difficult for her as a newborn to sleep, eat, and even digest food at times. Seeing her continuously fight and smile through her uncomfortableness and constant itching sparked something in me, and showed me that I have to push past any doubts or anything standing in my way of getting this done.
After writing my first book, I fell in love with the publishing world. I started teaching others how to publish their book, created my Books 2 Impact coaching program, and went on to speak at different schools and events sharing my expertise. Since I wrote my first book in 2020, I’ve gone on to become a 4x best-selling author who’s helped hundreds of people all around the world turn their story into a published book. At first, I was mostly helping individuals publish self-help books and then while reflecting on my daughter’s journey last year, I decided it was time to help her share her story and publish her first children’s book called Shanel‘s World. Since the release date, her book has been selling like hotcakes and we’ve been in several schools across the country inspiring children.
What kind of authors do you work with? Children's authors or only author's for adult literature? Fiction, nonfiction, both? Poetry?
I work with Non-fiction, self help authors, and children book authors. My goal is to help you create a book that will make a long lasting impact.
Do you have a favorite client success story that you can share?
I had a client that was ashamed of her story and dealt with a lot of trauma. Through writing her story, I was able to help her better channel her emotions and put it in a book by following a clear outline. She had a highly successful book launch and went on to sell hundreds of books and is now speaking and sharing her story on several stages!
Who is your favorite author and why?
My favorite author would have to be Sarah Jakes Roberts because I love how her writing is so authentic to who she is and it aligns with her brand and her expertise. I’m always encouraged and ready to take action anytime I read her books.
Are there certain things that potential clients need to have in order before they reach out to you to help them get their book published?
I would say they need to have the drive and motivation to publish their book because we help our clients by showing them how to outline their story even if they come to us without anything written. They would need to have an idea on the type of book they would like to write. We provide them with guidance, the tools, and resources they need to get it done.
If you could give one piece of practical advice to all the aspiring authors in my readership, what would it be?
Go and ask 3 people in your network this question: “ If I was to write a book, what do you think it would be about?” See if there are any commonalities in the responses you get. This is important because a book builds your credibility and establishes your authority so before you publish a book, you should be building your brand or platform where you speak on those things that you have an expertise on or things that matter to you. For example, if you are thinking about publishing a relationship book then you should be providing valuable and helpful tips about relationships prior to you releasing a whole book about it.
Understanding how your community views you and what they think you have expertise on. They can help set you on the right path to show you how well you have been building your Author platform and brand.

Honestly, watching most straight women in relationships with their male counterparts is the best form of birth control I’ve ever experienced. On my flight back from Oaxaca, I saw two couples in the Cancun airport that had me APPALLED. Thankfully, my mask was on because I was ENRAGED and disgusted. The parents of those men should be absolutely ashamed, and I need both of their wives/girlfriends to love themselves enough to leave these men immediately. I’ll share the full story tomorrow.
