I heard that they casted a dark-skinned Indian woman to be the lead next season. Since they are following Anthony's love story next season.
That's all good but I am still disappointed. It is easier (for them) to cast a dark skinned Indian woman than a dark-skinned young Black woman. They only prefer us as decoration. SMDH.
I heard this news about the season 2 casting too and, honestly, it doesn't matter to me. Like you said, 1. it's easier to have a non-Black, dark-skinned woman be a romantic interest than a Black woman (which is such a gross cop-out and 2. they have proven that they can't handle any non-white character with racial sensitivity so it's probably going to be a mess anyway (insert the DEEPEST sigh).
A screenwriter friend and I had the exact same points to make about the show. Marina was a mix between the Jezebel and tragic mulatto stereotypes. It was so blatant. Ugh.
Honestly, I dislike how it was trying too hard on the diversity angle. I also dislike the fact that I can't discuss about the show honestly online without being attacked and dragged into the American culture war which I want to have zero part in. I mostly dislike the show because it was campy and oversexed. All these factors just turned me off, and it made watching the show more hard work than I'd like. I'll just take out my worn copy of Pride and Prejudice and watch Colin Farrell.

yep. yep and yep. they weren't even trying to hide it and it makes me really disappointed that auntie Shonda would cosign this.
YES!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this. Bridgerton is trash.
No problem at all! It is trash and it is unsurprising that so many people think this gross neoliberalism is Woke Nation

I could feel this coming and had no desire to watch, thank you for your review. Confirmed my gut feelings.
